Make sure you don’t miss the 22ndAnnual Naples Festival for the Arts this weekend happening in the Fifth Avenue South shopping and dining district! This is one of the last major festivals of its kind happening this season. The festival is brought to the Naples community through a partnership between The Naples Art Association at The von Liebig Art Center and the Downtown Naples Association. It runs Saturday, March 27th and Sunday, March 28th from 10am to 5pm both days.
This event features 250 artists covering a spectrum of media including areas such as: paintings, jewelry, metal, leather, sculpture, glass, digit arts, and more. For a complete listing of artists being showcased at the event, please go to http://www.naplesart.org/content/calendar-events?q=content/downtown-naples-festival-arts. The artists are listed and grouped by artistic area at the bottom of the above referenced page, and many of them have websites where you can find out more information about their work.
This festival and other events like it in our area help to shape who we are as a community. The fact that we bring together highly successful business with world-class cultural facilities and activities in a tropical paradise setting makes Naples a truly unique city that we should be very proud to call home!
So, get out with friends and family this weekend to enjoy the weather and the beautiful works of art being showcased at the festival!
Have fun!

After being rescheduled due to weather conditions, it is time to officially ring in the Naples holiday season with the Christmas Walk on Fifth Avenue South tonight. Each year this event brings me such joy, and it means the first of many celebrations to come this time of year.
This event always takes me back to re-visit the excitement I have forever felt for the holiday season. No matter how my year has unfolded, I know I can always find comfort in the festivities the season brings – the lights, the music, the food, the cheer. It seems that happiness is always contagious at this event, and everyone feels it. I truly love seeing the smiles on all the children’s faces and the delight that comes over everyone at the sights of this season.
Watching Santa and Mrs. Claus light the tree while carolers and the choir sing holiday songs in the background always brings out the inner child in me. I usually find myself lost in my thoughts for a few moments remembering back to how I would sit for what seemed like hours and just stare at the beauty of the tree as a young girl.
There is just something about seeing a Christmas tree all decorated and lit up that is captivating at any age. I think it is because it symbolizes hope and joy for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you have had a wonderful year or a not, the Christmas tree represents hope for what may come in the year ahead.
I know the last year or two has been very hard for many people, which is why I think this year’s Christmas Walk on Fifth Avenue will be extra special and help bring that warm twinkle to everyone’s eyes. It is truly a joyous time for everyone to wish and dream and love and hope, and I can’t wait for it to officially start tonight!
